Self-Portrait, Marjane Satrapi

She portrays herself as very westernized, wearing the tall black boots and casually--even fashionably-- smoking a cigarette. Her hair down and face shown represent her complete rejection of women's oppression and even hint at a little promiscuity. Her crossed arms take away from the definition of her body; she doesn't have a distinct shape. Does anyone have an answer to why she would draw herself in that position?
