Oscar Zeta Acosta

In this picture, Acosta does not look fat, ugly, or even very Latino. As a matter of fact, he simply looks like a sad man. It is interesting that, despite how he tries to frame his image (grotesque in the book, flattering in the photo), his mood is consistent. So are his perfect ears, if you look closely.

I agree that his stature, while not as large as written in the books, is consistent with his mood. His stance is not particularly strong and he looks as if he is not truly present in the moment.

From the picture, I get the sense that Oscar is simply a man trying to fit into American ideals. In this picture, he seems incredibly out of place in the pinstripe suit. Here, Oscar may be a man of Hispanic heritage trying desperately to fit into American ideals.

In addition, this picture also reminds me of the scene where Oscar describes himself to be movie stars such as James Cagney.

In this picture Oscar appears to be left out, like the last kid picked in gym. He dresses to fit the part of a successful American but still isn't accepted as one. The pin stripes and flashy shirt give off a sense of overexertion and trying too hard to fit in. The stance with his hands in his pockets makes it seem like he isn't going anywhere, stuck where he stands.
